Session 6

This session continued from last week and the girls wrote a group poem based on the metaphors and similies that they had created from listening to sounds outside. They rehearsed and recorded the poems as a group and they were fab! It will be interesting to know how different or similar the sounds are in Aarti home.

Group 1

OOooooh – The Wind in the Trees

I feel so scared
Being in a forest
With all those werewolves
The wind is so loud

Drrrrrr – The Drill

Like a big black motorbike
It’s a bit annoying
An angry bee coming to sting you
Memories of going to the Dentists
‘Arrggh, don’t pull my teeth out’

Ooh Ooh – The Wood Pigeon

Like a ghost frightening you at night
It’s terrifying!
An owl sitting on the tree….staring
A train zooming past on a journey

Kuh Kuh – A Cough

Starting an engine on a cold morning
An angry person wanting attention
Frogs running around – ‘Aaaahhh’
I feel ill!

Zzzzzzzz – An Aeroplane above

Like a fly annoying people
Maybe someone’s snoring in the night
It makes me feel sleepy
Zzzzzzz

Group 2

Blah, blah, blah – Teacher’s talking

I can hear the teachers talking
But they never stop
It sounds like a Virgin media advert
Or air coming out of a tyre – bleuurgh!
Like an overheard conversation when someone’s on the phone

Krrrrk krrrrk – Leaves crackling

Is it a teacher telling a student to be quiet?
I can hear someone
Or was it a window cracking and fracturing
A fuzzy radio heard in the distance

Ku Ku – A cough

It sounds like an engine starting on a frosty morning
Or a door creaking at a football game
It reminds me of the time Jessica choked on a crisp
I thought it was quite funny

Quak quak – A Bird

Like Dolphins early in the morning
Or new shoes squeaking on the floor
Some people find it annoying
It makes me think of lots of animals

Wssshhh – The Wind in the trees

It’s like the wind in the middle of the night
Or calling ‘Torres’ the cat to get his milk
It makes me feel calm and relaxes
Like the tide of the sea crashing
